Hand Paint Sock Yarn

On the left.  I machine knit sock blanks. I did one with the yarn singled.  The other doubled (for an exact matching pair)  If you are doubling the yarn you will need to use a bulky knit machine.  What is pictured on the left are my hand painted blanks.

Sock yarn used Brown Sheep Wildfoote Ashland Bay Trading, high twist, Blue Face Leicester Wool, Merino and Bamboo Merino.  Click to Yarn and Dye for details and ordering.

Ashford Kiwi Yarn Skeiner

Filed under: Dyes & Tools, Spinning Tools — Elizabeth @ 3:28 pm

Handy tool for Handspinner or the Fiber Artist. Winds handspun yarn into skeins for washing, dyeing or presentation. Hand dyers use to reskein commercial spun yarns after dyeing or skeining sizes as desired before dyeing (easiest off cone yarn if that is an option). Handspinners use this tool to easily wind off their bobbins into skeins of yarn, otherwise you need to use a niddy noddy. The skein diameter is 1.5 meters (5 feet). Filed under: New Things, Hand Dyed Yarn, Dyes & Tools, New Kits — Elizabeth @ 8:18 pm

New to Hand Dyeing?  What if you could dye yarn in your choice of colors with NO big (or small) messy dye pots?
The Ewe Dye-It Kit makes it possible! Now you can create your own beautiful hand-dyed yarn using just your microwave oven and common vinegar.
The Kit includes 6 blend-able primary & secondary color dyes, a skein (100g) of fingering weight 75% wool / 25% nylon yarn, 3 dye dispenser bottles, protective gloves, easy-to-follow instructions and more.
Kit contains enough dye to color from five to six 100g skeins of yarn. And, since all the other supplies are several times re-useable, this Kit is eco-conscious.   Click to Order
