Gauge: 9 stitches = 5″, 8 rows = 3″
Cast on 18 stitches. Work in garter stitch, (knit every row.) Increase one stitch at the beginning of every row until you have 98 stitches. Knit one row without increasing. Bind off Loosely. Block lightly to measure 62″ wide and 28″ long.
Fringe: Use two 14 ” double strands. Beginning on the side edge, fold strands in half and using a crochet hook thread through, pull the ends through loop created. Repeat approximately every 1″ across both diagonal edge and bottom. Leave the 98-stitch edge un fringed.
Ideas: Knit a row of metallic thread or Novelty yarn randomly throughout the shawl. Use same randomly in the fringe as well.
